Minimal Damage

And the thunder rolls, and the lightening strikes...

Another love grows cold on a sleepless night.

As the storm blows on - out of control,

Deep in her heart -

The thunder rolls.

Fun with Foo

We've been having such an amazing summer! Take a look:

Iconic Pops sits just off of Route 66, in between Stillwater and OKC. We've been back and forth to the city a lot lately and always take time for a pop-stop!

Thought I'd do some artsy advertising for it :)

One of our adventures in the city brought us to our favorite spot - the temple.

A couple in our ward had been baptized around a year ago, so this past weekend they went through the temple and then were sealed. Evan and I participated in the whole day and we had just an awesome experience.

Joining us were the Sister missionaries that worked with the couple. They had been off the mission for a 1 year & 1 1/2 years; it was the first time they'd been together since the mission, but it was like no time had passed. They stayed with Evan and I, making it a super fun weekend!

They are the first of a slew of house guests that we'll be having this summer... We might have to get a sign-in book :)

We've been trying to spend more time in the outdoors, here's our Young Married group playing disc golf.

We also tried to fly a kite...

... with some success!

Okay, I've been dragging you along - holding out the goods. Well here they are folks:

Ladies and gentlemen - the Foo Fighters!

It was at the BOK Center in Tulsa and every seat was filled. The 2 1/2 hour show was outstanding! We even got an acoustic encore.

I'm still star struck :) They ended strong with Everlong - Evan thought he had died and gone to Heaven. It was my first big show an the bar has been set very high!

Lastly, it's storm season - FINALLY! Here's a little taste of how awe-some the weather is:

Today we had a full double rainbow after a quick thunderstorm - it was truly spectacular!

We're really looking forward to our fun Memorial Day weekend with Zak, Crystal, Beau, and baby Renaud!!

Evan's Thesis, etc...

Evan is working on his master's thesis. By working, I mean physically preparing sections of a core for analysis. I wanted to learn a little bit more about what he did, so I went straight to the source - off to the Hazardous Reaction Laboratory (HRL):

My turn? :)

Did I mention we also have a celebrity in our midst?

Recently Evan received a grant to help fund his thesis. Can you find his name among the large list of recipients? We are so grateful to be a part of such a giving community and can't wait until we get to pay it forward to a well deserving student. Thank you so much Herbert and Shirley Davis!

We also had a ward picnic this weekend, it was incredible! It was in Perry, OK at CCC Lake - which was equally as nasty as the other clay based lakes around here :) But we made it a good time.

Evan gave guided pointing tours for everyone in search of sun-bathing turtles.

Recently we had a youth temple trip. We had 3 newbies, 2 were our newly converted YW.

As intense as working with young women can be, the rewards are untouchable! I can't begin to express the emotions that come from seeing the smile on a girl's face as she holds a new set of scriptures and be told they're hers to pour over, or the smile she has after coming up out of the waters of baptism. It's totally worth every effort.

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the gratitude I have for the mothers and other women that have given me and Evan life. Thank you for your long-suffering and cheers of encouragement!

And that's just the first week of May! I hope many more good things are to come :) Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Peace out - E & LB
